Reeves!

My brother's name, Tatum REEVES, leads all the way back February 25, 1832, even though he was born in March of 1998. Tatum was named after my father, Daniel REEVES. My dad was named after his dad, Alma REEVES Taylor, III. Who was named after his dad, Alma REEVES, Jr. Who was named after his dad Alma REEVES Taylor, Sr. Alma's father was Hyrum Henry Taylor. Hyrum married Eliza Jane Bird who's father's name was Taylor REEVES Bird who was born on February 25, 1832. That is why I enjoy working on my family history, because you can realize that your name or family member's name actually has a whole story to it.

Tanner, family history can be fun when we learn about our ancestors. Just to add to what you wrote - The Reeves name goes further than that. Taylor Reeves Bird gets his middles name from his grandmother Maribah Reeves (she married Benjamin Freeman Bird and his family were early members of the Church and supposedly have the 40th largest family in the Church). They had a son named Phinease Reeves Bird and he was the first in our line to have Reeves as a middle name (that would be Taylor Reeves Bird's uncle). From Maribah Reeves the last name goes back to 1580 in England.

The name Reeves is a professional name - a Constable. In England they don't have counties, rather they have shires. A Shire Reeve was the shires constable and from that we today have the word Sheriff. Taylor Reeves Bird's picture I have seen hanging in the Ward building in Provo - I can't remember if it was 1st or 2nd ward now, but he was the first Bishop of that Ward.
